Another Saturday, another day to take off from work and writing. My daughter and her two teen-agers were here for several days, three of which we spent in Disney World. We all love it!

One day in the pool, my 13 year grandson named Parker, asked me if I could live to be 100. I told him it was possible, and maybe even probable if I stay in good health. He asked how I'd feel about that. I looked at my daughter and said, "How do you think I'll feel when I'll realize I have an 80 year old daughter at that time?" He looked shocked. A moment later I was pretty shocked myself!

Age is an amazing thing. Some people at age 60 have the health and outlook of someone aged 30. Others at the same age have the health and outlook of someone aged 80. Here we are looking at a 55th high school reunion in a year! That's amazing, too! We're all over 70 now. Anybody feel that age now? (Be nice!) Come on in and talk here. I'm sending messages to lots of our classmates. If you know updated email addresses, please send them to me.

Cheers! Garda

Saturday, April 28 -- After the Royal Wedding

Who watched the royal wedding this week? I did, and was very impressed with the beautiful young couple. Seeing Queen Elizabeth brought back memories of watching early television and seeing her crowned queen of England following the death of her father, George VI. I was amazed by television in the first place, but seeing this woman with the heavy bejeweled crown resting on her young head gave me the sense of huge responsibility now part of her life, perhaps forever. She said she would serve until the end of her days -- and I believe she's working on that!

In later years as I remembered watching that event, I understood the powerful impact television has had on all our lives. We grew up in a time that is unique to only our generation -- following a major world war, the incredible growth and building of our country, and the burst of television that brought the world closer to us all, provided jobs and selling through commercials, and entertained us as no other invention ever had. Our experiences are different than anyone else's, within the shared events as well as outside of them. While aging faster than a speeding bullet which does not overjoy me to say the least, I'm glad I grew up in the time I did! What about you?

CHS Class of 1957 55th Reunion 2012!

It's not possible I'm even old enough to write that title and believe it!
Well, I do believe the title. But I can't possibly be old enough understand it's been 55 years since we graduated from CHS!

The school has changed dramatically over the years. Have we? I guess so... Come by, write something and let's get a conversation going before next year faces us. Please consider attending the Reunion. Do what it takes to get you there. I'd love to see all of you again

Looking forward to talking with you here! Cheers!
